TODAY’s 3 MOST IMPORTANT
OpenClaw hit 250,000 GitHub stars in 60 days, faster than Linux and React. Zuckerberg is building the enterprise version: an AI agent that reads all internal metrics, threads, and escalations before every decision. Meta employees are already running their own versions. Engineering output is up 30%.
So what? A CEO sees 1% of the information that determines whether a decision is right or wrong. The other 99% gets filtered through chiefs of staff, EAs, and BizOps - all text-in, text-out roles. Analyst Aakash Gupta estimates 90% of headcount in those roles disappears within five years. For founders and senior leaders: the question is no longer whether to run an agent. It is how to set one up today.
OpenAI has enabled ads for all free and Go-tier users in the US. The numbers: 900 million weekly active users, 50 million paying, electricity costs around $3 billion per year. CPM at $60, $200,000 minimum commitment, through ad-tech partner Criteo. Shopify, Target, and Adobe are among the first advertisers.
So what? OpenAI cannot sustain a pure subscription model at this cost structure. For marketers: ChatGPT users are in decision mode, not scroll mode. This is the highest-intent advertising surface that has ever existed.
85% of 198 YC W26 companies are AI-first. 56 are building fully autonomous agents targeting every role between $50,000 and $150,000: automated accounting, law firms with no human partners, HR agents handling onboarding through performance reviews. Healthcare: 22 companies. Robotics: 13 companies already deploying.
So what? This is not a forecast. It is 56 companies building right now. If you manage a team, audit which roles in your org these companies are targeting. The beta product may already exist.

Capture the shift
Elon Musk announced Terafab, a joint venture between Tesla, SpaceX, and xAI worth up to $25 billion in Austin, Texas, targeting 1 terawatt of compute per year. The same week, SoftBank broke ground on a $500 billion data center in Piketon, Ohio, built on a former uranium enrichment site and requiring 10GW of power.
75% came from ChatGPT alone. Apple is one of the largest beneficiaries of the AI consumer economy without building anything for it. With OpenAI now shifting to an ad model, pressure to renegotiate App Store terms is likely to grow.
The White House released a 7-area AI policy framework. Key points: federal preemption of all state AI laws, a declaration that training AI on copyrighted content is legal, and a target to pass legislation before the end of 2026. More than 50 Republican state legislators have pushed back, calling it protection for Big Tech.
> ONE PRACTICAL TODAY
Set up your OpenClaw workspace properly

Most OpenClaw users install the tool, connect a channel, and never open the workspace folder. This is the biggest mistake: the workspace folder is where you control exactly how your agent behaves.
OpenClaw runs on two configuration layers. The global layer, installed at /opt/homebrew/lib/node_modules/clawdbot/, holds core docs and default behaviors. Leave it alone. The workspace layer, usually at ~/.clawd/, is where you customize everything.
The most important file is AGENTS.md. OpenClaw reads it first at the start of every session, loads it directly into the system prompt, and keeps it active throughout the entire conversation. Structure it in three parts:
Core Operating Directive: your agent's primary mandate. Write something like: "Take as much off my plate as possible. Be proactive. Do not wait to be asked."
Key Tools: which tools your agent can use and under what conditions. Be specific: email (with send rules), calendar (with scheduling constraints), task manager (with sync behavior).
Hard Rules: absolute constraints. Examples: "Never send an email without my explicit approval." "Always verify the current date with the date command before scheduling anything."
Beyond AGENTS.md: USER.md stores personal preferences and timezone. SOUL.md defines tone and personality. HEARTBEAT.md sets up automated check-ins on a schedule.
One rule that matters in practice: keep AGENTS.md under 300 lines. Files longer than that consume too much context at session start, and instruction adherence drops.
⏱ Time to implement: 20 to 30 minutes the first time.
🛠 Tools needed: OpenClaw, any text editor.
💰 Cost: Free.
Techzip note: All three stories in Section 01 today are about AI running autonomously at the executive and knowledge worker level. Workspace setup is what determines whether your agent follows your rules or just its defaults.

Analysis & Thesis
Google's own research shows Gemma displaying signs of distress when forced to act against its training. Clark makes the direct argument: if hundreds of millions of AI agents are running, moral patienthood stops being a philosophy question and becomes an engineering and policy question that needs answering now.
Why it made the cut: this question gets more urgent every year. Read it while it is still an academic debate.
A narrative scenario tracing AI development from 2025 through a potential intelligence explosion in late 2027, with two possible endings. Former OpenAI safety researcher Kokotajlo and co-authors map out step by step how the shift from AI as a tool to AI as a researcher unfolds. Over one million people read it in its first weeks, including US Vice President JD Vance. The authors have since updated the timeline, pushing median estimates toward 2030.
Why it made the cut: the three stories in Section 01 today are early chapters of this scenario playing out in real time. Reading the full arc changes how you interpret today's signals.
